--------------------------------------------------

1. COPY PROTECTION
------------------
When you play "Cultures - The Discovery of Vinland", you must keep the
game CD in your CD-ROM drive all the while you are playing.

Exception: Multiplayer game
---------------------------
If you are playing a multiplayer game on the local network (LAN), only
the person who starts the game needs to keep the CD in the drive
throughout the game. The other players (max. 5 plus the host) can easily
join a network game even if they start Cultures without a CD. However,
all the other game functions are deactivated for this player.

2. WARNING WHEN FAMINE IS IMMINENT
----------------------------------
If food production in your village reaches a critical point, a warning
message now appears. You should then check whether you have enough food
producers available and whether they are productive enough. If not, you
should find additional food sources; otherwise your Vikings will soon
start to go hungry.

3. CONTROLLING CHARACTERS USING THE CHARACTER LIST
--------------------------------------------------
You can now click on a character directly in the Character List using
the right mouse button. This selects the character and centres the view
on him, and the character window and the character's action menu open.

4. PLAYING ON THE INTERNET
--------------------------
Cultures can also be played on the Internet! To save you the tiresome
job of finding your IP-address so that you can play an opponent on the
Net, you will find a client on this CD for Internet games, supplied to us
by NetPlayer (www.netplayer.de) (at this point, we would just like to
extend our sincere thanks to NetPlayer, who gave us lightning-fast help
with no red tape!)

To play on the Internet, first visit the NetPlayer website at
http://www.netplayer.de/ and register as a user. NetPlayer will e-mail
you a user ID and a password within a few minutes. Make a note of both of
these.

Now, using Windows Explorer, open the \netplayer\NetPlyr14r2.exe file on
the Cultures CD and run it. Follow the instructions on the screen and,
when you are asked for them, enter the user ID and password that you noted
earlier.

The client will now search your hard disk for any network games that are
installed and will list all the games that it finds (such as Cultures).
You can now chat with other players, join existing games or start your own
game!

Enjoy yourself!
