<c:9FC43A>-------------</c>
<c:9FC43A>Ebony Spire: Heresy</c> is an all 3D <c:9FC43A>first person dungeon crawling rpg</c>
with rogue-lite elements for PC (Linux and Windows). It draws
inspiration from 80's and 90's classic rpg's and combines it with
the joys of exploration from games in the roguelike genre.

The action takes place inside the <c:9FC43A>Ebony Spire</c>, where you play as a
berserker, night shade or scroll mage. Your goal is to invade the
sacred tower of Dae'eria and slay the fervent goddess!

Moving in the 3D space is performed with the keyboard.
The keys <c:9FC43A>W</c>,<c:9FC43A>A</c>, <c:9FC43A>S</c>, <c:9FC43A>D</c> cause your character to advance one unit forward, left, back or right.
The camera can be rotated left or right using the keys <c:9FC43A>Q</c> and <c:9FC43A>E</c>.

To attack a creature or another target in <c:9FC43A>melee</c> you need to face it
and ”<c:9FC43A>move</c>” towards his spot. Instead of taking his occupied space
you will deal damage to that enemy. Damage done is calculated based
on your <c:d27d2c>weapon proficiency</c> (<c:d27d2c>+ weapon stats</c>) and the <c:d27d2c>enemies armor</c>.

Enemies will try and engage you in melee combat the same as you do,
by moving towards your character.

To cast a spell press <c:9FC43A>I</c> to bring up the <c:9FC43A>i</c>nventory screen. Select the
<c:9FC43A>Spell</c>/<c:d27d2c>Scroll</c>/<c:6dc2ca>Artifact</c> from your inventory that you want to cast
and trigger it using <c:9FC43A><Space Bar></c>. Depending on the type of spell you cast
it will either:
- fly towards where you are facing
- affect the character/item one step in front of you
- fly outwards in a radius affecting everything in it's path
- affect only your character

You can also bind a spell or an artefact to the <c:9FC43A>F</c> key. Select it from
your <c:9FC43A>I</c>nventory and press <c:9FC43A>F</c>. With the <c:9FC43A>I</c>nventory screen closed press <c:9FC43A>F</c> again to activate it.

To <c:9FC43A>o</c>pen doors and portals press the <c:9FC43A>O</c>(<c:9FC43A>O</c>pen) key. To check your surroundings press <c:9FC43A>V</c> (<c:9FC43A>V</c>iew).
You can press <c:9FC43A>?</c> at any time during gameplay to see a list of
available commands!

The message <c:9FC43A>l</c>og (present in the middle upper part of the screen)
conveys information on your character's status and observations.

<c:9FC43A>The first level</c>
<c:9FC43A>-------------</c>

When you first start the game, via the <c:d27d2c>New Game option</c>, you are
presented with a number of classes which affect your starting gear
and stats. Select one of the three options to continue.
Once the level starts you will see the environment around you
from a first person perspective. From there on you're free to run
through the gauntlet up till you reach <c:d27d2c>level 10</c> and find the
<c:d27d2c>end-game boss</c>.

The first level is used to familiarize you with the game's concepts and
and mechanics. Most enemies you will meet on this level can be
taken care of lightly. Spend some time collecting items (scrolls,
potions, swords and armor) before moving up to the next,
harder, levels.

Pickup items with the <c:9FC43A>P</c> key and access the <c:9FC43A>I</c>nventory using the <c:9FC43A>I</c>
key. At the start of the game your maximum carrying capacity is 100 stones
and your inventory is limited to a maximum of 23 items. Surpassing any of
the two limits won't allow you to pick up new items.

Press <c:d27d2c> ESC </c> to return to the main menu.
