IV - VOICE CHAT FOR AN INTERNET GAME
-----------------------------------------------

TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED allows you to play shout-out mode over the Internet by using a chat headset. Some chat headsets connect to your soundcard; others connect to a USB port. TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED supports most models of both kinds.

Setup-

You must first have properly connected a chat headset to your soundcard by following the instructions that came with your soundcard. We recommend you first test the headset with another program and confirm it is working before attempting to use the headset with TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED. Your soundcard manufacturer may have included software to allow you to set up Voice chat; check with the manufacturer of your soundcard for support.

If you have a USB headset, you must have previously installed the drivers for the USB headset and confirmed it is working before attempting to use the headset with TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED. Consult the manufacturer of your headset for support.

You can also test the working state of your chat headset from the Windows Sound Wizard. To open the Sound Wizard, click the START menu, then on RUN and enter DXDIAG in the space provided. This launches the DirectX Diagnostics Tool. Next, select the NETWORK tab found at the top of the window, then click the button labeled DIRECTPLAY VOICE OPTIONS. This will dispay the DirectPlay Voice dialog box; click RUN WIZARD... and follow the on-screen directions.

After you have installed your chat headset and confirmed it is working you are now ready launch TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED and play a network game in shout-out mode.

Play-

Before launching TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED, confirm your computer is connected to the Internet and that your chat headset is connected and working. Next, launch the game and select START NETWORK GAME from the main menu.

To HOST A GAME, select the HOST A GAME option from the Network Game menu and follow the on-screen directions to create a game name. Refer to the TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED game manual or PDF file for details. Keep in mind, the SHOUT OUT answer type requires everyone to have a working chat headset.

To JOIN A GAME, first select the JOIN A GAME option from the Network Game menu and follow the on-screen directions. Select the settings for the game type you prefer to join. Refer to the TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED game manual or PDF file for details. After the GameSpy software connects your computer to the TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED network, the game will display a list of games you can join that match your preferences. To see the details of a game in the list, use the arrow keys to move the selector to that game. The window to the left of the list will display all the settings selected by the game's host, including GAME NAME, NUMBER OF PLAYERS, if the game is IN PROGRESS and the ANSWER TYPE for that game. REMEMBER, if the host set the ANSWER TYPE to SHOUT OUT, you MUST have a working chat headset to play. Press ENTER to join the selected game.

NOTE: If you disconnect your chat headset during a game, you must exit that game, connect your headset and then re-enter the game.

V - AUDIO LEVELS
------------------

Volume levels have been optimally adjusted for game play. Note however, that if you experience undesirable audio levels, you may make adjustments to your computer's audio output levels by using the Windows volume controls. These settings are independent of the sound controls found in the game's option menu.

From the desktop, select START > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control.

VI - DIRECTX AND COMPATIBILITY
----------------------------------

TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED requires Microsoft DirectX 9.0 is installed and correctly functioning on your system. If you experience difficulty with DirectX 9.0, contact your modem, network interface, sound or video card manufacturers to obtain their latest drivers.

VII - VIDEO CARD CAPABILITY
-------------------------

TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED must be played on a video card compatible with DirectX 9.0. We strongly recommend you also install the latest drivers for video card. Contact your card manufacturer for the latest documentation and drivers.

VIII - DISK CAPACITY AND SWAPFILE SPACE
--------------------------------------

Regardless of where you install TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED, you must have at least 400MB free space on the destination hard drive before installing the game. In addition, if the hard drive used by the Windows swapfile is low on space, you may experience a degradation in performance or random crashes. Please make sure your hard drives have plenty of space for the swap file and that your hard drives are free of fragmentation.

IX - SUPPORT
--------------

For additional information, please refer to the TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED manual.

X - KNOWN ISSUES
------------------------------

VOICE CHAT FOR NETWORKED SHOUT OUT GAMES - If you are playing a SHOUT OUT Internet game and your chat headset becomes disconnected, you will NOT be able to simply reconnect the chat headset and expect voice chat to still be working. If you encounter this problem and want to re-enable voice chat, exit the networked game you are playing (but don't quit the game), re-connect the headset as directed by the manufacturer and re-join the network game. Your voice chat should be restored.

GAMESPY ARCADE SOFTWARE - Older versions of GameSpy Arcade may not be compatible with TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED. For best results, please install version 1.4d or newer. To download the latest GameSpy Arcade software, go to http://www.gamespyarcade.com

VIDEO CARD MEMORY - Some video cards share your computer's system memory. For best results, install the latest drivers for your hardware. Also consult the documention for your video card and your computer's motherboard for optimal BIOS settings (such as APG aperture size) for your video card.

MULTIPLE MONITORS - While playing TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED, the resolution of your primary monitor may change. On a computer with multiple monitors, you may experience undesirable results. For best results, disable the "EXTEND MY WINDOWS DESKTOP TO THIS MONITOR" option on all monitors other than your primary display.

SIS 330 (Xabre400) VIDEO CARD UNDER WINDOWS ME AND WINDOWS XP - Some versions of the SIS 330 (Xabre400) video card have been shown to be incompatible with this game at certain screen resolutions under both Windows Me and Windows XP. Though infrequent, this incompatibility manifests itself in the game by showing only some of the graphics of certain 3D screens. While this matter is being researched, we recommend you use Windows to change the resolution of your screen to 800x600 16 bit before launching TRIVIAL PURSUIT UNHINGED. In addition, make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card.
