3. Graphics Card Compatibility
==============================

The following video cards are NOT supported:

	- 3Dfx Voodoo / Voodoo Banshee
	- S3 Savage

The following video cards are NOT 100% supported (under some circumstances the game may
run but occasionally with minor issues):

	- 3Dfx Voodoo 5
	- ATI Radeon
	- ATI Rage Fury MAXX
	- Matrox G400
	- PowerVR 3 chipset
	- 3Dlabs Permedia 3 Create!

Known Issues / Workarounds:

- If you are using a "Jaton 3dforce" based graphics card (or similar) you may experience
minor graphical errors. To fix this, turn off the "Dynamic Shadows" option in the
configuration program.

=====================
4. Performance Issues
=====================

- If you experience poor frame rates, you may want to try some of the following steps:

Turn off 'Environment Mapping' (under the "Detail Level" tab), turning this option off
will provide the greatest speed increase.

Switch all video settings (under the "Detail Level" tab) to lower settings.

Lower the resolution the game runs in. Higher resolutions should only be used on
high-end systems. On older less powerful machines it is also suggested that you choose
a 16bit resolution (i.e. "800x600x16").

NOTE: Always ensure you have the very latest drivers installed for your card and
operating system.

- If you are using Windows 2000, please ensure you have at least Service Pack 1
installed. This can be downloaded from:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/default.asp

Obviously this link may change, so if it does not work, just search www.microsoft.com
for Windows 2000 Service Pack download.

If you have not got Service Pack 1 or later installed you may experience performance
problems.

===========================
5. Sound Card compatibility
===========================

The following sound cards are NOT 100% supported (under some circumstances the game
may run with minor sound issues):

	- Best Data Theatrix

Known Issues / Workarounds:

- If you are using the "I/O MagicQuad V8 sound card" (or similar) you may experience
missing sounds. Lowering the audio hardware acceleration to Basic will fix this problem.

To lower the hardware acceleration of you sound card:
   a. Click on the Windows taskbar "START" button and select "Settings" then "Control Panel"
   b. Select "Multimedia" (or "Sounds and Multimedia" for Window's XP/Me/2000 users).
   c. Click on the "Advanced Properties" under the Audio tab.
   d. The sound playback advanced properties will appear. Click on the "Performance" tab.
   e. Drag the slider labelled "Hardware Acceleration" to the left until "Basic
      Acceleration" is displayed.

=======================
6. Command Line Options
=======================

- If you're using a controller device which supports force feedback - it is possible to
change the controllers force feedback using a multiplier ranging from 0.0 (no force) to
2.0 (double the normal force). The default is 1.0 if this command line option isn't
included.

Examples: tir.exe ff_scale 0.75	(75% of the default value)
		tir.exe ff_scale 0.0	(no force feedback)
		tir.exe ff_scale 2.0	(double the default value)
		tir.exe ff_scale 3.0	(out of range - will be forced to 2.0)

To use the command line:
   a. Click on the Windows taskbar "START" button and select "Run".
   b. Using the examples above, type in your desired command.

========================
7. Control Configuration
========================

- To configure the controls, select the "Control" option from the Options menu. Select
the controller you wish to configure for the appropriate player, then select "Configure
Controls" for that player. You will now go to one of two screens depending on the type
of controller you selected.

Non-Keyboard Controller:

	This screen is split into Analog Controls and Digital Controls. An analog control
	can only be mapped to an action in the analog section; and a digital control may only
	be mapped to an action in the digital control section.

	To map/remap an action, first position the flashing green bar over the action you wish
	to map/remap. Then select that action by hitting the 'Enter' key. Now you can either
	remap the action, or remove the mapping for the action. To remove the mapping for the
	selected action, press the 'Escape' key. To remap the control, move the desired axis
	in the desired direction for analog device, or press the desired button for digital
	devices.

	In general, you shouldn't need to map the seperate analog accelerate on brake on the
	righthand side. This is only used for pedal controls which support seperate axis.
	If you map either the individual Accelerate or Brake options on the right side of the
	Analog Controls, then the combined Accelerate/Brake mapping will be removed (and
	vice-versa).

Keyboard:

	This screen lets you map actions to keys on the keyboard. To map an action to a key,
	position the flashing green bar over the action you wish to map, then hit the 'Enter'
	key. Now you can either unmap this action with the 'Escape' key, or press any other
	key to map that key to the action. Note that the 'Escape' key and the Windows magic
	key cannot be mapped.
