Buddies

Your Buddies is a listing of EA SPORTS™ Online (EASO) members you have chosen to regularly communicate with. Much like other instant messenger tools, your Buddies are people you can send quick messages to and receive responses from. You can control who is on your Buddies list at any time.

People in your Buddies list are marked as available or unavailable depending if they are currently logged in and ready to receive messages or not.

When you add other EA SPORTS™ Online members to your Buddies list, you can instantly contact them or leave messages when they're offline.

When an unknown member sends an initial message to you, the member name appears in your Unknown folder. If you want to be able to communicate with this member during a later session, you must move the member name into a different folder.

Add to Buddies

To add a member to your Buddies simply click on the member popup menu indicated with an arrow icon and located to the right of the member's name anywhere in the EASO service. In the popup menu that appears select "Add to Buddies". If this selection is not available the member may already be in your list.

Alternatively you may click ADD BUDDY button on the Buddies drawer. The Add Buddies dialogue window will be displayed. Enter in the name of the member you are looking for and click SEARCH. The results of your search will display below. Use the member's popup menu to display the "Add to Buddies" command or click on the + button that corresponds to the member.

Send Message to Member or Group

Send a message to another person by clicking on the arrow icon next to someone's name and then click on the Message command that appears in the popup menu that is displayed. The member's popup menu is located next to the member's name everywhere in the EASO service.

You can also send a message to a member by double clicking on the desired name in your Buddies list.

Send a message to a group by clicking on the group folder icon associated with the desired group and then click on the Message Group command that appears in the popup menu that is displayed. You can also send a message to a group by double clicking on the desired group name.

Remove Buddy

To remove a member from your list you must first locate their name in your Buddies. Using the member popup menu next to their name, select Remove. The member should now be removed.

Block Members

To block a member from sending messages you must first locate their name in your Buddies list. Using the member popup menu next to their name, click Block. The member should now be blocked. The blocked folder will only appear if there is at least one member already blocked.

Groups of Buddies

To create a group and add members to it, click the ADD GROUP button on the Buddies drawer. A dialogue box prompts you for the Group name. When you are satisfied with your new group's name click ADD. To add members to your new Group, drag their name into the new folder. To move a member to another Buddies list folder, drag their name out of the current folder and into the desired folder.

You can also send a message to a group by double clicking on the desired group name.

Member Popup Menu

In EASO pages, you will see a small arrow icon next to member names. A popup menu is displayed when this icon is clicked. Depending on who the member is and whether you're a Club Manager, you may see some of the following commands in the Member popup menu:

VIEW PROFILE:  View the member's Profile.

MESSAGE:  Send a message to the member.

ADD TO BUDDIES:  Add selected member to your Buddies list.

RECRUIT:  Send a message to the member offering admission to your Club. Only Managers see this command and it is not available from the Buddies list.

The following options are only available when using the member popup menu from your Buddies list:

CHALLENGE:  Challenge the member to a one-on-one contest.

REMOVE:  Remove the member from your Buddies list.

BLOCK:  Block messages from the member.
