Infantry Units

Militia

Irregular troops were undoubtedly the least skilled units. It is difficult to describe their equipment and ammunition, for it was manifold, though in some cases they had none at all. The morale of these fighters was rather low, too. Although people were capable of self-sacrificing feats when they protect their families, it was very difficult to control such an army. Ioreover, insufficient fighting training resulted in unwarrantably heavy casualties. Militia troops were very numerous; they were cheap soldiers, who could successfully fulfill miscellaneous functions, lead a guerrilla warf or handle the building of facilities and buildings. When the main army's resources were exhausted, these troops could help them out with their own weapons - axes, hunters' rifles, etc. They sometimes even had weapons from the army stores. But generally their armament varied greatly, as did their clothes and armour. The militia usually gathered during military actions and later returned to their usual activities.
