Vityazes (Russia)
These riders formed a feudal (boyar) cavalry in Russia. Knights were equipped with armour (coats of mail and steel plates) and armed with sabres, lances, halberds or maces and pistols. Their characteristic features were great fighting skills and morale. Traditionally, heavy infantry dominated the Russian army, therefore heavy cavalry was not too numerous.
The Vityazes excelled in wielding cold steel weapons and horse riding.
