Improve ship of the line design

In the late 18th century, the wooden hull design was improved so greatly that it became usual to build ships with a 2,000 ton displacement. Large vessels acquired a peculiar form, with boards tilting inside and high aft superstructures with various deck levels descending midships. The steering wheel ousted the tiller and handlebar. The number and durability of the ribs increased. Now combat squadrons included large ships of the line, several frigates for reconnaissance functions and messenger vessels.
