Turkey

In the 13th century, from what remained of the split state of the Seljukian Turk people emerged a new state with an emperor at its head. United under his rule, the tribes began their conquests. They managed to capture small parts of Asia, then invaded the Balkan peninsula and soon Bulgaria, Serbia and a weakened Byzantine were under their rule. Ottoman armies strove to conquer larger territories. Around about the second half of the 15th century, they conquered Crimea, and later Armenia, Mesopotamia, Egypt, part of Georgia, Syria and Aravia. As the Ottoman empire grew stronger, its numerous armies rushed towards the heart of Europe. With emperor Suleiman I in command, they invaded Hungary. Ottoman troops entered Austria and soon its capital Vienna was under siege. There had been multiple invasions on the territory of Ukraine and Poland. The oppressed peoples were forced to pay enormous fees. People had been also forced to toil in the construction of churches and fortifications. Taxes were collected in human equivalent. Families were robbed of their sons, provided they were young and healthy. Those children were trained to form ranks of infantry, which made the core of the army. There was also a feudal cavalry. Together these regiments comprised an enormous army, which represented various peoples and nationalities. A lot of regiments were irregular.
