Basic Objective
In any given area of a dungeon, there will be monsters. Defeat these monsters to proceed to the next area. Once you clear an area once, you can pass through it without defeating the monsters again should you leave the dungeon and return.
Gameplay Screen
| Area Map | A small map of the local area. Enemies to be slain are shown as red dots. |

| Time | Only displayed in Practice Mode for self-challenging purposes. |
| Hit Points | A numerical representation of Elise's vital living-stuff. If this reaches zero, it's lights out. Can be increased by using Ferromin items. |
| Equipped Items | Displays the items currently equipped on Elise. |

One of our protagonists, definitely not a freeloader, and definitely not suspiciously like a shump player-satellite. |

Our brave, noble hero. Don't make her jump in lava too often, okay? |
| Stored Magic Stones | A display of your currently-gathered magic stones. As you pick them up, the stones will "fill in" from left to right; Chante will also draw stones starting from the leftmost when casting. |
Pause Menu
In addition to any other keybinds (such as Button 5 by default on a gamepad) you may press ESC at any time to bring up the pause menu.
Normal Pause Menu
| Return to Game | Gets you out of the pause menu and back to applying your sword to various beasties. |

| Equipment | Allows you to alter the equipment Elise is currently wearing. |
| Items | Allows you to take stock of your inventory and use consumables. |
| Spell List | Allows you to view the spell combinations you currently have available. This will expand as you go through the game. |
| Options | Allows you to access the options menu. |
| Save | Saves your game data. Note that if you save in a dungeon, you'll restart from the world map if you exit the game. |
| Return to Title | Quits out of the game and returns you to the title screen. Don't forget to save! |
Practice Mode Pause Menu
| Restart | Allows you to restart a practice level, timer and all, from the beginning. Any items acquired are kept. |
