Using Magic

When you defeat enemies or break objects, you may see magic stones drop to the ground. These are used by Chante to cast spells.
Utilizing Stones
In the beginning, Chante will only be able to utilize two stones at once. Finishing certain objectives in the game will allow her to use more, up to four at once.

The first stone used will activate a magic circle on the ground, and determine the element of the spell to be cast. Successive stones will alter the performance of the spell; more stones of the same element will trigger stronger spells of that element, while other elements will alter a spell, as detailed below.
Mixing Elements
Mixing in other elements can alter the way a spell performs; experiment and see what does what! Here's a few examples using the basic "Hammerball" Earth spell.
| Earth+Fire |
Adding a fire stone to this basic earth spell makes the ball larger and hit harder. |
|---|---|
| Earth+Air |
Air stones are often all about range and area. For Hammerball, this means you create two at once! |
| Earth+Water |
Water stones often add special effects. Adding it to Hammerball gives the ball a paralysis effect. |
Enemy Elements

Nearly all foes have their own elemental affinities. The color of the lock-on reticule will indicate what element a given enemy is. Spells and attacks of a given element won't be effective against a monster with that affinity, so keep an eye on what element a foe is!
