II. ACCESSING THE MANUAL PDF

An electronic version of the printed manual (.pdf) has been included on the CD.

To access this file on the CD double-click on My Computer, then right-click on the
CD drive that contains the game disk. Select Open. Double-click on the
 BYFootball2008_Manual.pdf file.

INSTALLING ADOBE ACROBAT READER
Viewing the electronic manual requires Adobe Acrobat Reader. The Acrobat Reader install
program has been provided on the CD for ease of install. To access this file on
the CD double-click on My Computer, then right-click on the CD drive that contains the
game disk and select Open. Double-click on the "Adobe Acrobat Reader" folder. Then
double-click on the AdbeRdr810_en_US.exe file and follow the on-screen prompts.

Or you can go to the following URL to download Adobe Reader for a different OS:
 http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

III. SAVE FILE LOCATION

By default, the game save file will save to C:\Documents and Settings\*username*\Humongous\

The default save file name is BYFootball08.dat.

KNOWN ISSUE: If you change the Save Location from the default directory above,
please be aware that you may have to manually add a back slash, "\", to the end of the
 save file location.

For example, if you select Browse on the Autorun screen to change the directory, browse
to the location you want (the folder location must already be created; you cannot create a
new folder within the Browse action) and then make sure there is a backslash at the end of
the file path. You may have to manually add one.

Please keep in mind that if you move the save file to a different folder, the game will
not recognize it. You must keep the save file in the folder location you state
or it will not load your saved game.

IV. CREATING A SHORTCUT ON YOUR HARD DRIVE

By default and to save space, Backyard Football 2008 does not install anything
onto your PC - the game runs completely from the CD. Due to this setup, the
game will need to be run either by exploring the CD and running the
Autorun.exe file, or by creating a shortcut to that Autorun.exe file on your
 Desktop.

To create a shortcut to Autorun.exe on your Desktop, with the Backyard
Football 2008 CD in your CD-Rom, double-click on the My Computer icon then right-
click on the CD and choose Explore.

Right-click and hold the button down on the Autorun.exe file. Drag the
file to your desktop and let go of the right-mouse button. You will see a
small popup with a few options in it. Choose "Create Shortcut here" to make a
shortcut to the Autorun.exe file from the CD onto your desktop.

V. KNOWN ISSUES

Missing d3x9_35.dll
When attempting to launch the title, if you receive an error message where the title is
looking for d3x9_35.dll, you will need to upgrade your version of DirectX. Please see
the section below regarding how to upgrade DirectX.

VII. RUNNING ON VISTA

While the product does not officially claim Vista as a supported OS the game will run
on Vista. If you run into any issues not detailed here in the readme feel free to contact
our customer support email (see "SUPPORT & CONTACT US" below).

SAVE FAILED
If you try and save a Season Coach in Windows Vista, you may receive a
message saying "Save failed. Check hard drive and try again?" If you
receive this message, there is a workaround for this problem.

Create a folder on your Desktop called BYFB08 and open it. With the
Backyard Football 2008 CD in your CD-ROM, open up My Computer, right-
click on the CD and choose Explore to view all the files on the CD.

On the keyboard, press Control + A to highlight all the files on it CD.
Right click the highlighted files and choose Copy. Click on the new folder
you created, right click and choose Paste to paste all the files to the
newly created folder. You can then run the game from this folder with the
 Autorun.exe file.

CREATING A SHORTCUT

 Desktop.

receive a popup saying "Windows cannot create a shortcut here. Do you want
the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?". Click Yes and a
shortcut to the Autorun.exe file on the CD will be placed on your Desktop.

VIII. VIDEO CARDS

A common reason for software to fail is the video card driver is not updated. This is one
of the first things you should check for if you are having issues running the game.

To upgrade your video card drivers:

Go to Start, Run, then type in dxdiag and press Enter to find the DirectX diagnostic
program. Click on the Display tab after the program is done loading and youll find the
name and manufacturer of your video card. Youll also find out how much video memory
that video card has. You need to make sure that your video card has at least 32MB of
video memory. If it does, then you probably just need to update the video card drivers.
You can do a Google search for the name and manufacturer of your card and find links
 to said drivers.
